Coach Jeff Johnson


Coach Jeffrey F. Johnson is in his 25th year of coaching swimmers. He has received many awards and honors as a coach but none have pleased him as much as helping a young swimmer grow and learn to achieve his or her goals.

Some of his coaching achievements include the following:

1975 to present Head Swimming Coach Acton-Boxborough Town Swim Team with an outstanding Dual Meet record of 252 wins 33 losses and Suburban Swim League Championships in 1980, 85, 87, 88, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, and 99.

1977 to present Head Swimming and Diving Coach, Boys Team Acton-Boxborough Regional High School and a most impressive Dual Meet record of 231 wins 44 losses. He has lead this team to Dual County League Championships in 1987, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 and 99; to Massachusetts North Sectional Championships in 1987, 88, 90, 91, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97 and 98; and to the Massachusetts State Championship in 1988, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, and 95.

Coach Johnson proudly saw many of the young swimmers he developed from the age of 6 improve through the town swimming program to championships on the town team and the boys and girls high school teams but then move on and continue their swimming success on various Eastern Massachusetts AAU and USA Swimming clubs. In 1991 he decided to start his own USA Swimming club, the Patriot Swim Club. During the past 8 years he has coached swimmers to: numerous New England Swimming Age Group Championships and Eastern Zone Meets as New England All-stars; Eastern Zone Age Group Champions; swimmers that have achieved  USA Swimming Top-16 swims; and Junior National Championship qualifiers.

Boston Globe High School Swimming Coach of the Year: 1986, 1991, and 1996

Middlesex News High School Swimming Coach of the Year: 1990, 1991 and 1995

Lowell Sun High School Swimming Coach of the Year: 1979, 80, 81, 86, 92, 95, and 97

Eastern Massachusetts Swimming Coaches Association Coach of the Year: 1986, 91 and 96

Inducted into the Eastern Massachusetts Swimming Coaches Association Hall of Fame: 1998

Recognized for his accomplishments at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
